*Hon. Minister Thiru A. Rajmohan attends Tamil Film Active Producers Association (TFAPA)’s 6th Annual General Body Meeting and assures support from the State Government on the requests made by TFAPA.*

*The Tamil Film Active Producers Association (TFAPA) conducted its 6th Annual General Body Meeting (AGM) today at Hotel Adithya, Vadapalani, Chennai.*
The AGM, conducted annually to bring together members, exchange views on the Tamil film industry, present the Association’s annual accounts and discuss new initiatives, was attended by over 150 Producer members.
The event was graced by the presence of Thiru A. Rajmohan, Hon. Minister for School Education, Tamil Development, Information & Publicity, Government of Tamil Nadu, who addressed the gathering and interacted with the members on key issues concerning the Tamil film industry.
TFAPA Presents Memorandum to Tamil Nadu Government: TFAPA presented a detailed memorandum to the Hon. Minister seeking the support and intervention of the Government of Tamil Nadu on several important issues affecting the growth and sustainability of Tamil cinema.
The Hon. Minister went through the requests and, during his address, spoke in detail about each one of them and the steps being considered by the Government.
The key requests presented by TFAPA included:
1. Removal of the 4% Local Body Entertainment Tax, which is currently charted only in Tamil Nadu.
2. Regular presentation of the Tamil Nadu State Government Film Awards, including the clearance of awards for pending years.
3. Disbursement of pending subsidies for small-budget films for the past 11 years and continuation of the subsidy scheme on a regular annual basis, along with a request to enhance the subsidy from ₹7 lakh to ₹10 lakh.
4. Single-window shooting permissions across Tamil Nadu, including permission to shoot on city roads, to facilitate smoother and more efficient film production.
5. Implementation of a Movie Ticket Tracking System to provide Producers with online theatre collection information after every show, with the objective of bringing greater transparency and helping prevent revenue leakages.
6. Annual financial support from the Government of Tamil Nadu for a new OTT platform proposed by the Producer Associations, with the objective of creating a dedicated platform for the streaming of small-budget Tamil films.
7. Establishment of a State-supported anti-piracy organisation to strengthen efforts to control and combat film piracy.
8. Removal of Virtual Print Fee (VPF) charged by digital cinema operators, a long-standing demand of Producers, with TFAPA seeking the intervention of the State Government in resolving the issue.
9. Resolution of the OTT release-window issue through a tripartite meeting involving Producer Associations, Theatre Owners, Distributors and the Government of Tamil Nadu, along with discussions on finding a sustainable solution to the VPF issue.
Producers of Noteworthy Films Honoured:
For the first time, TFAPA honoured Producers of noteworthy and successful Tamil films released between October 2025 and September 2026, recognising their contribution to the industry. The Producers were presented with Trophies and Medals as a token of appreciation. Several of the awardees were personally present at the AGM to receive the recognition. The list of films to whom the award was given is attached.
Strong Participation from Producer Community
The AGM witnessed the participation of over 150 Producer members, along with several prominent members of the Tamil film fraternity, including Mrs. Khushbu Sundar, Ms. Soundarya Rajinikanth, Mr. Vijay Antony and Mr. Kannan Ravi.
The gathering was also attended by Mr. G.K.M. Tamil Kumaran, President of the Tamil Film Producers Council; Mrs. Sujatha Vijayakumar, Joint Secretary; and the office-bearers and Executive Committee members of TFAPA.
TFAPA expressed its gratitude to Hon. Minister Thiru A. Rajmohan for his presence and for taking up the key concerns raised by the Association. The Association looks forward to continued dialogue and regular interaction with the Government of Tamil Nadu towards resolving these issues and strengthening the Tamil film industry.
